Anthony Edward Black is a musical adventurer

Starting as a bassist the vibrant scene of Southern California,  Anthony cut his teeth in the dawn of west coast punk explosion...which in several years, gave birth to the first wave of thrash metal.    While in the punk scene Anthony was the bassist for two of Oxnard California's "Big Four" bands, Stalag 13 and Dr. Know, which toured the nation supporting the album "This Island Earth" which was released on Metal Blade/Death records.  


In San Francisco, Anthony found himself as the bassist in an band led by the guitar virtuoso "Buckethead" who Anthony played with, off and on throughout the 90's.  Touring regionally and supporting Mr. Bungle, Primus, GWAR, System of a Down and others. 

Anthony graduated from the Los Angeles Music Academy in '98, where he studied Jazz, Brazilian, Cuban, and more.  

During this time Anthony played bass for "Eyedentity" which at times featured guest performers Flora Purim, Airto Moriera and Wah Wah Watson.

In Asheville North Carolina, Anthony began working with former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle and his band APB, which toured nationally.   Artimus and Anthony appear on several studio recordings together

Anthony was asked to join the Marshall Tucker Band in July of 2016 and performed over 350 concerts, including the  50th Anniversary Tour,  Long Hard Ride Tour,  Juke Jammin' Tour,  Hell and High Water Tour,  supported Lynyrd Skynyrd's farewell tour,  the Grand 'ol Opry,  Rock Legends Cruise,  Skynyrd Cruise, Carolina Panthers halftime show, and many notable venues.  His favorite show was in Solana Beach Ca, in 2017

Upon leaving the road to be with his family and children,  Anthony began shifting his focus from freelancing to songwriting...developing a unique style, both as a singer songwriter and world jazz musician.

Anthony is currently working on two main projects...an album of original folk music, and a world jazz album "Blackarts Ensemble" which features guest performances from Marcus James Henderson, (Marshall Tucker Band)  Jeff Sipe,  (ARU and more) Jason 
Decristifaro, Mike Seal,  Chris Pyle,  Duane Simpson,  Tyler Householder and more.
